How we calculate non-recurring donor automation impact.

At GivFlow, we’re passionate about helping your church grow its foundation – in a lot of ways, that starts with reliable giving. That chart you’re seeing? It’s a snapshot of how our automation turns infrequent donors into recurring givers, unlocking more for your ministry. Here’s how we figure it out.

The Grey Base: What You’d Get Without Automation

The grey bar is your starting point—what a donor would give without our help. Our data shows non-recurring donors give about 8 times a year on average. So, if someone donates $100, that’s $800 annually. It’s a solid foundation, but there’s so much more potential.

The Green Boost: Enhanced Giving Through Automation

Here’s where the magic happens. When our automation succeeds, it means that infrequent donor becomes consistent – to the tune of 3X more donations or 24 gifts per year on average (e.g. twice monthly). Even better, recurring donors give 26% more in total dollars over time (annualized). For that $100 donor, our automation enhances their annual giving to $1,008—that’s 24 gifts with a 26% increase. Subtract the $800 they’d give anyway, and you’ve got $208 in enhanced giving. That’s the green bar: the extra support your church gains.

No Red Bar: No Risk, Just Opportunity

Unlike other scenarios where donations might drop off, this chart has no red bar. There’s no risk here—just the opportunity to grow. We start with what’s already coming in (grey) and show how automation lifts it higher (green).

How It Adds Up

We currently track this weekly over a rolling 60 day period so you can see the success in real time, grouping every Monday to Sunday. When the automation completed (finishes sending email and donor has performed an action or no action taken after 30 days), we’ll include the results in the chart so you can what worked and what didn’t.

Recurring donors should be the foundation your church is built on – consistent, reliable giving that allows your church to operate at it’s full potential. Our automation will help you do that.

It’s all about strengthening your church’s support, one donor at a time. Curious for more details? Reach out—we’d love to chat!

How we calculate failed donation automation impact.

At GivFlow, we’re all about showing you the real impact of our automation tools. That snazzy chart you see? It’s not just pretty colors—it’s a story of how much donation dollars we’re helping you recover. Here’s the quick scoop on how we crunch those numbers.

Imagine a donor giving $100 monthly—that’s $1,200 a year. If their payment fails, that full $1,200 is on the line. We calculate this by multiplying the donation amount, by how often they give annually. Simple, but it’s the starting point of why our automation matters.

[NEW AUTOMATION] Recover Failed Donations - ACH & Debit - GivFlow

Finally, reach out to all failed recurring donors automatically.

In case you missed it, one of the original automations we rolled out last month was an automation designed to reach out to donors that have a failed recurring donation that was a credit card as a payment method. We originally held off on ACH and debit card donors because ~90% of those failed gifts come with an “insufficient funds” error code. This error code, doesn’t make communicate hard, but we felt like it made communication different than credit card donors. Nonetheless, we now have BOTH automations available. Turn them both on to ensure any failed recurring gift is automatically followed up – from your authorized domain name and a trusted person at your organization.

Why your church wants more recurring donors.

Why your church wants more recurring donors.

At GivFlow, we’re huge fans of recurring donors – let me tell you why.

Look, we don’t need to write a 500 page essay on this topic. I think we could probably agree that;

→ Recurring donors allow you to forecast better. → They give more consistently. → They give more contributions throughout the year.

I think those are fair statements. What about this statement, though?

→ Recurring donors give more dollars throughout the year as a whole.
