GivFlow Automations

If you haven’t heard about GivFlow automations, you should check out the pre-launch landing page! While currently in beta, we wanted to highlight the feature, go over how it works, and why it’s needed. At **GivFlow **we have a unique perspective and have been privileged to have access to a lot of data. Moreover, because of how we track donor development, we constantly received feedback of ‘how do we communicate with our donors?’, ‘what do we say?’, and ‘when do we say it?’. So for the last few months, we’ve been trying to make this easier for our churches.

Pre-defined Automations

There’s actually a few ways you can do what we’re doing, without our service. In fact, you can set up a Mailchimp journey with tags and filters and get pretty close! If you don’t want to deal with that, you can just turn on our automations that handle everything for you for the EXACT scenario you want to solve. For our Failed Recurring Donation automation, here’s the pre-defined triggers we handle for you.

This means we automatically handle the logic of when to reach out to the donor.

How do we reach out to the donors?

Here us say we love Planning Center. However, whenever you communicate via Planning Center, those emails come from the Planning Center domain name, not your domain name. We’re not saying this is a problem, but we think it can be improved. We required you to add DNS records and authenticate your domain before you can use automations. Learn more about why adding DNS records increases deliverability.

What do we say?

The BIG one! So many churches just don’t know what to say. While we will never claim to be communication experts, what we can tell you is that; generally speaking, less is more and anything is better than nothing. When ‘subscribing’ to a GivFlow automation, we’ll pre-populate messaging but give you the opportunity to change it if you want.

Because we only integrate with Planning Center, our messaging is tailored to how Planning Center works. For the failed donation automation, to resolve this, it’s a 2-step process; add/update the payment method, and assign that method to the recurring donation. When an automation completes and is a success, we’ll be sure to let you know!

Donor Cumulative / Compare

We’ve updated our donor comparison report! Let’s take a look.
While this report was wildly useful, we got a lot of feedback on it’s intuitiveness. Without going too far into the weeds, before you needed to select the proper date range order to produce either lapsed donors, or new donors. Now, you don’t have to and it’s displayed in a single easy to understand report. Let’s take a look at what has changed.

Basic strategy to start growing your giving (w/ or w/ out GivFlow)

A 10min guide to get your giving ministry growing!

Churches ask us all the time; how do we start growing our giving ministry using GivFlow or not? Moreover, what do we communicate with donors? Like a lot of really good answers in life, it depends.

Side note: I have a few folks I look up to and when they say this to me it makes me so angry – I’m asking you for advice, just tell me! lol.

1 List to Reach New Donors

1 List to Reach New Donors

Christmas is a great time to reach out to potential new donors, and you can run this list to make sure you’re reaching out to the right people.

Before we get into the list rules, let’s talk about why this is a great time of year to reach out to new donors. Why? Because a lot of people already get it. Christmas is already the season of giving and people want to give. The greatest thing about this list is that these people have been involved in some capacity at your church this year, but they haven’t given. Sometimes giving comes easy for families, other times it takes a few months to plant some roots in some other ministries. This list will target the families that have attended an event, dropped their kids off at church on the weekend, attended a group, or served on a serve team, but have not donated anything.
